National Museum of Arts
Azerbaijan National Museum of Arts is one of Azerbaijan’s premier cultural institutions, renowned for its rich history and extensive collection. The museum was established in 1936 as an independent institution, evolving from the art department of the Azerbaijan State Museum, and officially opened its doors on May 6, 1937. In 1943, it was named after the celebrated artist Rustam Mustafayev, and in 2011 it was granted national museum status.
Today, the museum occupies two historic neighboring buildings − the De Bura Palace and the Mariinskaya Women’s Gymnasium − connected by a modern glass corridor. Its collection includes approximately 18,000 exhibits, representing a wide range of Azerbaijani and international art.
The museum actively hosts exhibitions, international cultural projects, and research initiatives, while also producing catalogs, booklets, and scholarly publications. With three event halls seating 120, 70, and 25 guests, it serves as an ideal venue for lectures, presentations, and cultural events.
Visitors to the Azerbaijan National Museum of Arts can enjoy not only its impressive collection but also a rich program of exhibitions and educational activities, making it a must-visit destination for anyone interested in the arts and cultural heritage of Azerbaijan.
