Nardaran Castle – A Medieval Fortress of Absheron
Nardaran Castle is one of the most significant medieval fortifications on the Absheron Peninsula. Located in the historic village of Nardaran, the castle is a striking example of the defensive architecture of medieval Azerbaijan.
The fortress was built in 1301 by the architect Mahmud Sad oglu and consists of a strong central tower surrounded by defensive walls. Its imposing limestone structure reflects the architectural traditions of the Shirvan-Absheron school.
Nardaran Castle provides visitors with an opportunity to discover the military architecture, history and cultural heritage of medieval Absheron.
